The programme was designed and written by Elizabeth Tierney, a secondary school chaplain at Trinity Comprehensive School, Ballymun. Having originally trained as a teacher of Religion and English, she also completed training as a counsellor, psychotherapist and then as chaplain. Elizabeth’s learning and understanding of young people is evident in every page of this journal.
Elizabeth believes that a structured approach with practical and useful exercises can ensure that form class is an enjoyable and useful experience for students. It helps form teachers to create and maintain professional relationships with their classes, while introducing the concepts of the Junior Cycle to them in a dynamic way, to encourage lifelong learning and the development of life skills.
Central to her career in education is the formation of relationships with her students and, having implemented her own programme in school, Elizabeth felt that all schools could benefit from this journal.
